On March 22, 2018, advocates for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) will march on Capitol Hill to lobby for funding to support diabetes research, affordable costs for insulin, and protection of healthcare. These talking points are necessary in enhancing chronic disease self-management programs (CDSMP) and assisting the senior population with consistent access to diabetes healthcare.
Healthcare Reform has brought important benefits to people, including those with chronic conditions like diabetes.
Plans can no longer deny enrollment because of a pre-existing condition like diabetes. The administrators of various healthcare plans appear to be cutting costs to affect treatment for patients with #renaldisease; however, management and prevention of further comorbidites is key in protecting (at least) the level healthcare already in place.
We can hope for the best in the ADA’s efforts in DC and continue to promote healthy behaviors that will assist in effective disease management.
